A few days ago the test of the new Sony Vaio F with Core i7. Please note that the opinions below. The Sony Vaio F tested loads an Intel Core i7-720QM, 8 GB DDR2 RAM, hard disk SATA 500GB 7200 rpm, a Geforce GT 330M (1 GB dedicated), a 16.4 inch screen Full HD (1920 × 1080), a Blu-Ray, a card reader 3 in 1, a webcam, and interfaces Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, VGA, HDMI, ExpressCard 34 Helmet Microphone, Ethernet and USB 2.0 (x3 including one eSATA). It weighs 3 kg and measuring 388 x 264 x 41 mm. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
The Sony Vaio F displays a pleasing design with clean lines. It has a matte coating and a textured wrist rest. Like other models in the Sony range, the keyboard has separate keys. Ease of use is to go and has nothing comparable to that of a MacBook Pro with a particularly nice touch. The backlight is activated automatically when the brightness decreases. Shortcuts and multimedia keys are also present. It has a keypad.
The Sony Vaio F touchpad is a bit narrow to comfortably use the multi-touch functions. The smooth texture facilitates the gliding but requires a little adjustment period. Tile 16.4-inch Full HD can enjoy the High Definition and Blu-Ray. The brilliant treatment is smaller than on most competing models. The viewing angles are open enough to allow multiple people to view the display simultaneously.
The sound reproduction is withdrawn from the competition. The Sony Vaio F supports the wireless technology TranserJet. This allows to exchange data with compatible devices, for example, Sony Cybershot digital cameras. An interesting but limited in terms of flows. It is possible to buy an adapter ($ 50) for devices that do not natively support the technology.
The Intel Core i7 processor delivers performance superior to those offered by the models of the previous generation, especially in tasks requiring significant computing power. The hard drive 7200 rpm can benefit from better responsiveness. The Geforce 330M GT is able to handle most games but it is sometimes necessary to decrease the resolution to maintain good fluidity.
Autonomy is about 2:30 with the Wi-Fi enabled and Internet surfing. But the Sony Vaio F is a multimedia notebook that is not intended to be used on battery.
