The Asus K52JR-SX080X is a versatile new 15.6-inch laptop-oriented professionals in the Calpella platform with Intel Core processor Arrandale i3-350M and dedicated graphics next-generation displays at least 750 euros.
Asus K52JR-SX080X notebook incorporates technology Power4Gear Hybrid that adjusts the processor frequency depending on usage (4 modes available) and allows for example to extend the autonomy of about 20% to 25%.
The facial recognition system via webcam SmartLogon is also present as playback software and DVD burning. Its design is rather classical and restrained, but with a touch of originality at the brown shell whose appearance changes with the light. The left side hosts an air vent and VGA ports, HDMI, 2 USB and audio, optical unit and the rest of the connections being present on the right.
The keyboard keys chiclet has a flat keypad. Multi-touch, the touchpad slightly recessed into the chassis has a textured surface similar to that of the Wrist and Palm Proof Technology, which detects when the palm is in contact with the surface and does not activate the cursor.
Asus K52JR-SX080X appears as the only of its kind to receive a professional operating system. Compared to the edition 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional also embarked XP mode that lets you install and run applications / drivers only compatible with Windows XP. Moreover, there is a 64-bit version that fully supports the 4 GB of RAM.
These coupled with the Intel Core i3-350M guarantee operation at ease in everyday multitasking. The hard drive offers 500GB of storage space it comfortable while the connector is standard with Wi-Fi n and HDMI. One regrets in this respect the absence of e-SATA ports and Firewire, as well as Bluetooth module.
Given the career of this model, we would also like to see an embedded fingerprint reader for easy access and protected. We appreciate however that bag and optical mouse are available. The dedicated graphics card Radeon Mobility HD5470 is it able to run games too resource-intensive 3D and of course play HD video smoothly.

Finally the screen displays a 16:9 format also well suited to this type of use. Unfortunately, the resolution is low, especially in the vertical 768px, which requires scrolling regular office and surfing. This is all the more damaging that this is the main purpose of this professional model. In this regard, we would also have liked the treatment of the slab is matte and not glossy, to be much less prone to glare.
If you do not use a professional operating system, Asus K52JR-SX071V offers the same configuration but less than 700 euros 7 Windows Home Premium 64 bit, with Bonus Bluetooth module.
